Privacy Policy
Qynaat Nikah (“we”, “us”) is a private, guide-led Muslim matrimonial service operated by Qynaat International Inc. in Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and your rights. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the privacy laws of the province or state where you live where they apply.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, name, who the profile is for, a password (stored only as a one-way encrypted hash — nobody, including us, can read it) and your mobile number.
- Profile: the answers you give in your profile — for example date of birth, gender, marital status, religious practice, education, profession, family background, city and country, and what you are looking for in a spouse. Some of these (such as religion) are sensitive; we collect them only because they are essential to finding a suitable match, and only with your consent.
- Photos and selfies: the photos you upload and two private verification selfies (see Selfie verification). Hidden location data (EXIF) is removed from photos on your own device before they are uploaded.
- Consent records: the version of these terms you accepted, whether you chose to receive news and offers, and the time, IP address and device of each choice — so we can prove your consent.
- Security information: sign-in times, the devices and approximate location (country and city) used to sign in, and unusual activity, to protect your account.
- Payments: when you buy a membership, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and the last digits of your card; we never see or store your full card number.
- Messages: what you send to our team and our replies.
- Visits: anonymous page counts — the page, the referring website’s name, country and city, and device type. We do not use cookies or advertising trackers for this, and we do not keep your IP address; a daily visitor count is made from a code that changes every day, so nobody can be followed over time.
Why we use it
- To create and protect your account, verify your email and mobile number, and confirm you are a real person.
- For a Qynaat Guide to review your profile and to suggest and arrange suitable introductions.
- To show your approved profile to other members according to your membership level (your name, email and mobile number are never shown to other members).
- To send you service emails about your account, profile and membership — these are required to run the service.
- To send you news and offers only if you ticked the box to receive them; every such email has an unsubscribe link.
- To prevent fraud, misuse and scraping, keep records required by law, and improve the service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by other companies.
Before launch
While Qynaat Nikah is preparing to launch, we collect registrations and profile answers only. Profiles are not shown to anyone, are not approved, and cannot be signed into until launch. If we decide not to launch, we will delete all pre-launch registrations.
Who we share it with
Other members see only your approved profile, according to their membership level. Your information is also processed by the service providers below, only to run Qynaat Nikah and under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase — database, file storage and sign-in (stored in Canada, Montréal region).
- Vercel — website hosting (United States and global network).
- Resend and Microsoft 365 — sending and receiving email (United States / Canada).
- Prelude — sending mobile verification codes (European Union / United States).
- Cloudflare Turnstile — checking that forms are filled in by a person, not a bot.
- Stripe — card payments (after launch).
- Google Firebase — delivering notifications in our mobile app, if you allow them.
Some providers process information outside Canada, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect a member’s safety.
How long we keep it
- Your account, profile, photos and selfies: while your account is open, and permanently deleted 30 days after you close it.
- Payment records and invoices: as long as tax law requires (in Canada, generally 6 years).
- Technical error reports: 90 days. Security alerts and sign-in device records: 12 months. Anonymous visit counts: about 13 months.
How we protect it
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to member data is limited to authorised staff, who sign in with their Qynaat work account and must sign in again at least every 12 hours; every staff action is recorded. Photos are watermarked and served through short-lived private links, and selfies are kept in a separate, restricted store.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw your consent, or have it deleted. You can edit your profile and your email preferences yourself, and close your account at any time (see Deleting your data). To make any other request, email support@qynaatnikah.com; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or — if you live in Quebec — the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information and can be reached at support@qynaatnikah.com (subject: “Privacy Officer”).
Children
Qynaat Nikah is for adults only. Members must be 18 or older, and every profile must belong to a person aged 18 or older — the date of birth is checked when the profile is saved. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we will tell members by email and on this page before they take effect.
